Join us for a discussion about Sephardic poetry from the 10th century to the present day.
Héctor Contreras López is an independent writer and translator originally from Chihuahua, Mexico. He has published three collections of poetry in Spanish: Memory of the Stone (2006), The Tree of Dawn (2011), and Pochitoque (2023). He has participated in several translation projects, translating into Spanish Mennonite and Sephardic poetry. Héctor has been the coordinator of the Ricardo Aguilar Translation Workshop since 2016. The workshop has worked with UNM students to translate poems by New Mexico poets or writer related to New Mexico, among them Renny Golden, Demetria Martinez, David Wilde, Eleuterio Santiago Díaz and Michelle Otero.
