About:
Join us for a presentation with Dr. Santiago Vaquera-Vásquez, Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and faculty affiliate of the LAII, as he presents on "Imagining Something Better: Punk, Tejano, La Bamba, and Other Rolas from My Border Hi-Fi."
With a focus on narrative soundscapes from borderlands communities, this presentation reflects on the ways that music —in particular, Chicana/o punk— can examine complicity, entanglement and compromise in relation to nation, identity, migration and globalization.
