Reading Room 335 | Ortega Hall
About:
This lecture examines New Mexico balladry to reinterpret Nuevomexicana histories, from Paula Ángel’s execution to the suffrage movement. By comparing traditional a cappella forms with contemporary renditions by Lara Manzanares and Lone Piñón, this lecture explores how sound and musical texture enable listeners to somatically reimagine borderlands histories.
Notes:
This event is free and open to the public.
