LAII Offers Summer Trip to Spain

The University of New Mexico Latin American and Iberian Institute offers an opportunity to visit Spain, specifically "La Cultura de la Costa Blanca" on a 7-day trip (August 8-16) featuring the beautiful City of Elche as well as guided visits to Barcelona and Valencia. An information session is set for Tuesday, April 15, at 6 p.m. at the LAII, 801 Yale Blvd. NE. For reference, see the event flyer.

The Costa Blanca, or White Coast, region of Spain is internationally renowned for its architectural wonders, history, art and cultures, gastronomy and wines and abundant natural resources. Learn about the history and culture of this Mediterranean area in traveling the region and tour historical and contemporary landmarks. Faculty from the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche also provide lectures focused on the built and natural environment, foods, fine arts and intangible cultural richness of the area. The tour focuses on Elche, home to two UNESCO landmarks, but with additional explorations of nearby destinations such as Barcelona and Valencia - two cities with international reputations for extensive, fascinating histories and engaging present-day activities.
