Pablo received his Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While working at UCSB's Egyptian and Nubian Ceramics Lab and participating in field and lab research through University of Texas' Programme for Belize Archaeological Project, he also studied social and critical theory. His thesis examined expansions of imperial power in the ancient Mediterranean and its reflections in modern theories and historiographies of empire.

Pablo is currently interested in archaeologies of empire and resistance in the Latin American context. Particularly, he would like to trace the conflict of state and non-state forces through landscapes, household assemblage, and vernacular histories in his native country of Costa Rica.
