Title of Dissertation : Examining the Practices of Eco-theology: A Study of Catholic Environmental Ethics in the Peruvian Amazon

Valerio Di Fonzo is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Anthropology and a fellow in the Latin American and Iberian Institute at UNM. His research interests focus on ethics, environmentalism and historical formation of Christian theology. He is currently doing fieldwork in the Peruvian Amazon on eco-theology and investigating the relation between catholic church, environmentalism and the Awajun indigenous people. The aim of his research is to contribute to the anthropology of Christianity, with respect to the new interest in the anthropology of Catholicism, the anthropology of ethics and morality, as well as to document an emergent form of environmentalism.
