Liz Castillo
Administrative Assistant III
eac@unm.edu
Liz grew up mostly in Albuquerque. She has sixteen years of administrative experience at UNM, and she truly enjoys figuring out how administrative processes work, and then filling in the details. Her current position in the Latin American & Iberian Institute has proved to be highly interesting due to its interdisciplinary nature. As an administrative assistant, Liz supports with evaluation and alumni tracking; collecting data for reports and grant proposals; coordinating logistics, including travel, for events; and help with record keeping. She is awed by the breadth of academic backgrounds and experience which LAII’s affiliated faculty bring to the institute, and what this means for students completing degrees in Latin American Studies at UNM.
Liz has lived in other states and in Saudi Arabia, and wherever she is, she likes to experience nature. Living in Albuquerque, she loves to explore nature as much as she can, whether in the Rio Grande Bosque, or in the quiet spaces of the Sandia Mountains. Here she has observed numerous and varied types of birds and bugs, flowers and fossils, critters and rocks. When she's not out enjoying nature, Liz loves to cook, read, or create drawings and collages.
