Charlotte Robinson, 2026-2027 PhD Fellow

Meet PhD fellow, Charlotte Robinson. Charlotte is a PhD student in the Anthropology department. Her project is titled: Indigenous Domestication of Landscape Ecosystems in Pre-Columbian Amazonia.

Charlotte notes that “My interest in the Indigenous landscapes of the Amazon began with a childhood love for aquatic and tropical environments. This summer, I am excited to continue to my doctoral research through the LAII PhD Fellowship, which will support an extended season of data collection in the seasonally flooding lowlands of Bolivia as well as the training of a local archaeology student. Here, I will analyze the remains of animals from archaeological sites, especially fish, to investigate how past Indigenous communities exploited a variety of aquatic habitats alongside their transition to cultivating plants.”
