Faculty Conference Travel Support

Faculty at The University of New Mexico frequently present their scholarship at conferences around the world. To support this professional outreach and contribute to the dynamic scholarship on Latin America and Iberia taking place across campus, the LAII regularly provides conference travel support to faculty.

The LAII will award one request per person per academic year. The maximum funding permitted is 50% of the least expensive airfare (domestic or international) or $350, whichever is less.
Tenured, tenure-track, and lecturer faculty members at The University of New Mexico are eligible to apply. No affiliation with the LAII is required. Faculty member must be presenting a paper on Latin America or Iberia at a professional conference or meeting.
International travel to present on topics focused on Latin America must comply with the Travel America Act, which requires use of US air carriers, and must be approved by the US Department of Education at least 45 days prior to travel. Airline tickets should not be purchased until approval has been received.

The LAII asks that funding recipients formally acknowledge the Institute's role in supporting their scholarship. Please review our complete Expectations for Acknowledgement for more details.
