In this Musicology Colloquium Lecture, poet and scholar Juan Manuel Portillo and musicologist Ana Alonso-Minutti explore the confluences between poetry and music in Reflejos de la noche (1984), a piece for string quartet by Mexican composer Mario Lavista (1943-2021) that incorporates as epigraph the poem "Eco" by Mexican poet Xavier Villaurrutia (1903-50).
