Call for Applications for Field Research Grants

The LAII offers a reminder announcement regarding its call for application for its Field Research Grants (FRGs) for UNM faculty and graduate students. UPDATE: Please note that there has been a deadline extension. Applications WERE originally due March 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. However, applications and supporting materials ARE DUE NOW MONDAY, MARCH 24, 2014, by 5:00 p.m.

Note that a Field Research Grant Help Session is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Join LAII staff from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the LAII Conference Room (801 Yale Blvd NE) to review application guidelines and learn tips for writing research proposals. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions on all topics regarding the application and award process.

FRGs support faculty and graduate field research in Latin America, Spain, or Portugal.

Faculty FRGs provide UNM faculty members opportunities to begin field work on new projects or to complete, supplement, or add a comparative dimension to field research previously conducted. Grants provide funding for airfare, in-country transportation, and some field expenses.

Student FRGs provide support for graduate students in any department at UNM to conduct field work in Latin America. The grants are meant to assist students in obtaining their firs tor second field research experience. Grants provide funding for airfare, in-country transportation, and some field expenses.
