UNM Signs Agreement with Social Entrepreneur Corps and Welcomes Co-Founder to Campus

International Business Students Global (IBSG) and the Anderson School of Management are hosting an event where UNM will sign an agreement making it the newest member of the Social Entrepreneurs Corps (SEC). The event, "Creative and Social Enterprise in the 21st Century," will take place on Monday, February 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the Student Union Building, Ballroom B. The public is invited to attend.

Attending the signing is SEC co-founder Greg Van Kirk. Mr. Van Kirk is an Ashoka Lemelson fellow and recipient of the World Economic Forum and Schwab Foundation "Social Entrepreneur of the Year for 2012" in Latin America. As part of the event, Mr. Van Kirk will discuss the role of social enterprise in the evolution of the world economy. His presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with honored guests, the Santa Fe International Folk Market and the Global Center for Cultural Entrepreneurship.

The SEC is a prestigious social enterprise that leads innovative and dynamic international internship programs in Guatemala, Ecuador, Nicaragua, South Africa, Peru, and the Dominican Republic/Haiti. Student participants work in the field supporting the creation, development, growth and impact of social innovations focused on intelligently and sustainably alleviating poverty.

IBSG is accepting applications from UNM students of all disciplines to work throughout Latin American in summer internships with the SEC.
