Lizbeth Sanchez Garcia is a Ñuu Savi (Mixteca woman) born in the community of San Andrés Montaña, Silacayoapam, Oaxaca, Mexico. She has been working for more than 10 years in tequios (collective work) to build educational and community spaces to revitalize the tu’un savi (Mixteco) language and identity.
She is a PhD student in the Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies Program at the University of New Mexico. For her dissertation project, she will conduct research with Ñuu Savi women who share and cultivate the legacy of ancestral knowledge of life within their families and communities, preserving it across generations.
