History

Teresa’s preliminary research is on the presence and role of women in student movements in Mexico during the 1960s. She aims to research how women’s geographical location, class, and education shaped their gendered experiences during the student movements and their impacts. She will visit repository archives in Mexico City to identify women in left- and right-wing groups and understand how they impacted their organizations and experienced these movements. Teresa’s research has the potential to contribute to the understanding of gender relations in Mexican society during the 1960s and highlight women’s representation in politics and collective action to break gender roles.
