Sandro Sebastián is double majoring in Anthropology and Latin American Studies. Sandro's research revolves around the culinary practices of the Nahua people of Huasteca. Sandro is a previous FLAS recipient who completed all levels of Nahuatl at UNM. He is currently writing a cookbook in Nahuatl that highlights traditional dishes, the beliefs and stories connected to them, and the ways these foods shape identity from a Nahua perspective.  He is also studying Yucatec Maya to further expand his knowledge of Mexican Indigenous languages. He is deeply interested in the teaching and preservation of these languages and in developing stronger learning systems for learners of all ages.
