Esther was born on a farm in rural Southern Oregon, grew up in Oklahoma, and spent 15 years working as a professional photographer in Colorado before moving to New Mexico to complete her BA in Sociology and Sustainability Studies. She loves creating community, Participatory Action Research, social theory, and digital storytelling.

Esther is currently pursuing a Master’s in Latin American Studies, aiming to engage in cross-cultural work in Latin America and the Southwest. She fell in love with Spanish while listening to her older brothers practice for their high school exams. Their Spanish was terrible, and they used it to make fun of each other so her mom couldn’t understand, but it sparked the idea that language is a portal to other cultures, and she has been tugging on that thread ever since. When she is not studying, she might be traveling, hiking with her German Shepherd, Blue, or getting lost in a book.
