Black Prints: Modernist Networks of Anti-Racist Solidarity in Latin America
During Bruno's two weeks as a Greenleaf Fellow at the University of New Mexico's Latin American & Iberian Institute, he conducted research at the Taller de Gráfica Popular fund at the Center for Southwest Research. Bruno's focus was on visual representations of Afro-Mexicans and people from the African Diaspora in the prints created by this Mexican art collective. This work aimed to enhance recent studies that explore transnational networks of knowledge production related to anti-racist initiatives. By examining these visual narratives, Bruno sought to illuminate the cultural and social contributions of Mexico City's mid-XXth century cultural scene and their connections within the broader African Diaspora.
