Urbanism and Community Development

Overview

The concentration in Urbanism and Community Development is designed for students who are interested in the professional practice of planning in a Latin American context or planning in relation to immigrant communities in the US. Students learn to assist Latin American and immigrant communities to create community-based plans and programs that sustain and enhance their culture, resource base, built environment and economic vitality. The program promotes participatory processes that respond to community identities and development needs.

Students who are particularly interested in the profession of planning may want to consider pursuing the MALAS/MCRP dual degree rather than the singular concentration.
