Mauricio Germon Roche received his BA in Anthropology from the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán and his MA in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico, where he is currently a PhD student in the same department. He is an archaeologist specialized in the Maya region. He has conducted survey projects on the Yucatan Peninsula for over 20 years. His current project interrogates water management in the Puuc Region during the late Classic period and combines traditional archaeological methods with contemporary oral narratives with Maya speaking community stakeholders. As a current FLAS fellow, he is advancing his Maya (Yucatec) language skills in preparation for this research.
