The Latin American and Iberian Institute (LAII) is supported by a full-time professional staff and part-time graduate assistants and student employees. Affiliated faculty of the LAII engage in research and teaching that is key to UNM's overall dedication to Latin American studies. Upon occasion, the LAII provides institutional access and recognition to affiliated scholars. The Student Organization for Latin American Studies (SOLAS) is an independent organization composed of both undergraduate and graduate students at UNM who have an interest in Latin America. Students and affiliated faculty serve on committees to offer invaluable input on LAII-related events, awards, and programs.
