Sydney is currently a second-year Hispanic Literature PhD student in the department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of New Mexico. Her focus within the area is modern, 20th and 21st century, Southern Cone literature with a focus on representations of gender and sexuality. This past summer she participated in Tulane’s study abroad program in São Paolo, Brasil where she was able to significantly improve her Portuguese and her overall knowledge of Brasilian society, particularly how it intersects with her academic interests.
