Dr. Jesús Fernández, a professor of Taxonomy and Systematics of Biodiversity at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) is visiting UNM this fall as the 2025 Fullbright Mexico Studies Chair. 

This position was created through a partnership between UNM's Latin American and Iberian Institute (LAII) and the Fulbright-Garcia Robles Program, as part of a multi-year agreement between the LAII and COMEXUS, the U.S.-Mexico Comission for Educational and Cultural Exchange. COMEXUS promotes educational and cultural exchange for students, faculty, and researchers from both countries. 

Dr. Fernández will be part of a roundtable titled "Wildlife Without Borders: Conserving Mammals Across the U.S. Southwest and Northwestern Mexico" on November 6, 2025 at Castetter Hall 100.
