Special Guest:
Dr. Richard Gordon, Assistant Professor of Lusophone and
Hispanic Literatures and Cultures at The Ohio State University,
will offer a presentation to the UNM community on slavery and identity
in recent Brazilian Cinema.
Titled "The Case of Aleijadinho: Paixão, Glória e Suplício,"
the presentation will take place November 18, 2009, 4:00-5:00pm,
in Ortega 335 (Reading Room).
This event is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences'
Faculty Development Speaker's Fund, the Latin American
and Iberian Institute (LAII), the Department of Spanish and
Portuguese, and the Student Organization of Latin American
Studies (SOLAS).

Our next meeting will be Monday November 16th at 5PM in the SOLAS Office.
We will discuss upcoming events, including our Spring Film Festival.
