Program Funding Opportunities

The LAII funds lectures, presentations or discussions dealing with the promotion of scholarly activities closely related to Latin America. Read the guidelines and fill out an online funding request form.

Latin American and Iberian Institute Programs

In addition to teaching and research, LAII administers the following programs.

Brazilian Studies Association Latin American Database Center for Latin American Resources and Outreach Latin American Programs in Education Peace Corps
LAII hosts the secretariat of the Brazilian Studies Association (BRASA), the only international academic association dedicated exclusively to Brazil.

BRASA publishes an occasional bulletin, Fagulha.

A series of Brazilian studies curriculum guides and slide sets on Brazil are available from LAI.

Online News and Information Service covering Mexico, Central America and the Carribean including Cuba, and South America. CLARO's supports K-12 teaching about Latin America. It has a library of curriculum guides, videos, recordings, maps, and books that can be borrowed or purchased.

Contact CLARO for faculty and student speakers who will visit area schools to offer class presentations on Latin American themes, such as history, culture, literature, recent events, human rights issues, and the environment.

The College of Education's Office of Latin American Programs in Education (LAPE) carries out collaborative educational programs with Latin America, Canada, Equatorial Guinea, and Spain, often in conjunction with LAII. The U.S. Peace Corps' Southwest recruiting office is located in the Latin American Database building. Find out about being a Peace Corps volunteer abroad and opportunities for you afterwards.
