CIESAS-(Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antopología Social)

UNM has a Graduate Student Exchange with CIESAS.
The intent is to exchange 5 students per semester from each institution. The benefits for UNM students to take part of a year in Mexico are: 1) language training (in Spanish and indigenous languages) and 2) the opportunity to do direct fieldwork early in their graduate career.
CIESAS academic calendar is four three-month periods (cuatrimestres). Biennial promotions for entrance to the graduate program, in alternating years between Mexico City and Guadalajara/San Cristobal de Chiapas.
Courses begin in May and go until April of the following year.

ITESM-Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey-(FLUENCY NOT REQUIRED-MANY COURSES TAUGHT IN ENGLISH-BEGINNING SPANISH OK)
Ten one-on-one student exchange positions are available each fall, spring, and summer semester. Undergraduate semesters run August-December, January-May, and June-July. Graduate classes are offered on a Trimester basis. Undergraduate and graduate students with an excellent command of the Spanish language may take regular classes at any of the 29 ITESM campuses.

Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced students may select from a wide range of classes in the International Program at one of eight campuses:
No language exam at UNM is required.

- Mexican Art, Culture, Dance, History, Literature, and Theatre
Internships in various areas and a Volunteer Social Work Program are also available at certain locations. Spaces are limited.
Summer Programs
The TEC de Monterrey (ITESM) is offering several Summer Programs in Mexico. Programs include Intensive Spanish, Mexican Culture, Business Spanish, and Medical Spanish. There is even one along the Mayan Route (4-week program), which allows students to explore Yucatan while learning about the unique Mayan culture. Locations where summer programs are offered change every year, but in the past they have been offered at the following campuses: Estado de Mexico, Cuernavaca, Queretaro, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Merida, and Chihuahua.

Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana-Centro Histórico, México DF
Up to 4 UNM students per semester or year may attend UCSJ.
The University now offers a masters program. On the main page click on "Programas Académicos", then click "Maestrías".
UCSJ is a secular, co-educational institution with an academic focus on the humanities. Their Master's Program in Colonial Culture is the only graduate program to specialize in the culture of the Colonial Period in Mexico.
The UCSJ is housed in the 16th century convent where the famous Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, one of Mexico's greatest poets, lived during the 17th century. The university building is part of the historical district (Centro Histórico) of downtown Mexico City.

UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR ECONOMIC

Universidad La Salle is centrally located within the heart of the trendy Colonia Condesa, which can be easily reached by subway, bus or taxi. It is within walking distance of many restaurants, cafés, bookstores, museums and movie theaters, and only a twenty-minute ride from the Historic Center of downtown Mexico City. There are also branch campuses in Cancún, Chihuahua, Cuernavaca, Ciudad Obregón, Ciudad Victoria, Durango, Guadalajara, Morelia, León, Pachuca and Saltillo.

The Spanish for Foreigners Program offers 3 and 5 week intensive Spanish programs, as well as a summer program.
Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)-México DF
Up to 10 one-on-one student exchange positions are available each fall and spring semester. Normally semesters run concurrently with UNM semesters. Undergraduate and graduate students with an excellent command of the Spanish language may take regular classes at the UNAM campus in Coyoacán, a suburb of Mexico City.
