The LAII congratulates Dr. Sara Vicuña Guengerich for her participation as a guest scholar in an episode of the Archivo General de la Nación, Perú’s “El Archivo y sus Testigos.” In this episode we learn about the case of Doña Ana María Fernández Coronel Coya, an Inca descent native with a fascinating documented career defending the rights of the indigenous population. Dr. Vicuña Guengerich graduated from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UNM in 2009 with a PhD. She was awarded both an FRG and the LAII PhD Fellowship. Currently, she is Associate Professor of Spanish at Texas Tech University.
