Brazilian Literature and Culture

The concentration in Brazilian Literature and Culture combines literary, cinematic and cultural studies approaches to cultural production, through the lenses of cultural geographies; race, ethnicity, class, gender and sexuality; social justice, human rights, and insurgency; and period and genre. Students learn textual analysis, communicative skills, and critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. The concentration prepares students for continued study at the doctoral level; teaching literature, cinema, and culture at the high school and community college level; as well as humanities focused non-governmental organization work, to name a few possibilities.
