| The undergraduate major in Latin
American Studies consists of a minimum of 36 credit hours in Latin American languages and
area courses. Students work closely with the Staff Academic Advisor and the Director of Latin American Studies in planning their program of study and must receive approval for all course work taken in fulfillment of the major. Students seeking honors in Latin American Studies should consult with the Director of Latin American Studies Programs and submit a formal letter of application during their junior year. Honors candidates must register for six hours of Latin American Studies 497 and 499 and must write and orally defend a Senior Honors Thesis. |
Participants in the Latin American
Studies undergraduate major may earn a Certificate of Concentration in Brazilian Studies
by completing the Portuguese language concentration requirement and five of the following
courses:
The Director of Latin American Studies may approve the substitution of other courses with substantial content on Brazil. |
The minor in Latin American Studies
consists of a minimum of 24 credit hours including:
