Undergraduate students in the LAS program are strongly encouraged to avail themselves of UNM's many study abroad programs in Latin America and Spain. Study abroad programs have the potential to provide new perspectives, enhance language skills, refine research interests, facilitate a network of colleagues, and deepen personal growth.
In addition, undergraduate students may apply for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships, which support the learning of less-commonly taught languages both at UNM during the academic school year and abroad during the summer.
For more information about study abroad programs, visit the website for the UNM Global Education Office (GEO). Of particular usefulness is the GEO's Program Search feature, which allows students to browse programs by region and country.
